The carbon offset project is certified by ClimatePartner Deutschland GmbH. ClimatePartner enables companies to offset their emissions with recognized, certified climate protection projects. ClimatePartner cooperates closely with environmental associations and provides companies with guidance for their climate protection strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Caterpillar Energy Solutions supports a sustainable hydropower project in the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to offset the unavoidable carbon emissions from the MWM brand website &#8220;mwm.net&#8221; and the MWM energy blog &#8220;mwm-energieblog.de&#8221;. Congo, climatepartner.com\/1072)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The hydroelectric project makes use of the flow of Rutshuru River in the Virunga National Park in order to produce sustainable energy in the Matebe run-of-river power plant. The plant&#8217;s output of 13 MW of clean electricity is delivered to homes and small businesses. Thanks to this project, about 4 million people have gained access to electricity for the first time. Additionally, new businesses and thus new jobs are created for the population. Moreover, the project helps to protect the national park&#8217;s forests, as the energy is gained from hydropower, eliminating the need for cutting down the local rainforest for the production of charcoal.<\/p>\n<p>By supporting the climate protection project from April 2022 until the end of March 2023, Caterpillar Energy Solutions will be able to offset a total of 391 kg of carbon equivalents for the website of the product brand MWM.
